1. What Just Homepages is

Just Homepages gives you one good web page: what you do, and how to reach you, on its own address. It's for the café, the plumber, the club, the tutor, the painter, the person with a project: anyone who needs a website, not a website project.

  • £10 a year (€12 in the eurozone, $12 everywhere else). VAT is included in the UK and the eurozone; elsewhere, sales tax is added where it's due. That's less than a pound a month, and it's everything for your page: no ads and no tiers, just one small line at the foot of your page saying it was made with Just Homepages.
  • Your own domain (like www.yourbusiness.co.uk), with email at it, will be +£10 a year. Not yet open to everyone: see section 8.
  • Free to try. You can make your page and change it before you sign up or pay anything: 3 changes before you save it, and 10 more once it's saved.

What it isn't: an online shop with a basket, a blog, or a site with many pages. For those, a full website builder is the better choice.

2. Two ways to start

On the homepage there are two doors. Both lead to the same editor, and you can switch between them at any time.

Describe it

Write a few sentences about what you do, the way you'd tell a friend. For example:

We're a family bakery in Totnes. Sourdough, cakes to order and the best sausage rolls in Devon. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 8 till 4.

Press Start my page. Next come a few quick questions, each with answers to tap: how bold it should feel, how visitors should reach you, and so on (every question has "Something else…" if none fits). Press Make my page, and your first page appears, usually in about a minute: written, designed and ready to change.

The more real detail you give, the better the page. Times, prices, where you are and how to reach you are what visitors look for first.

Build it yourself

Prefer to write every word yourself? Choose Build it yourself. Pick a template, and you get a starter page with a place for each thing: your name, an opening, some words, your contact details. Fill it in, add what you like, and that's your page. Building it yourself doesn't use AI, unless you choose to ask for a change.

3. Choosing a template

A template is how your page is dressed: its colours, type, layout and character. There are over 160, from plain and modern to a 1970s green screen.

  • Browse them at justhomepages.com/templates. Type in the search box ("pub", "wedding", "green") or use the filters across the top: Good for, Era, Colour scheme, Mood, Style, Motion. Each filter shows how many looks you'd get. Filters you choose appear in the search box in [square brackets]; press Reset to clear them.
  • Look now opens a real sample page in that template. Use the ← → arrows (or your keyboard's arrow keys) to step through the templates you've filtered.
  • Use this template opens a starter page in that template, ready to fill in (or, if you already have a page, puts your page into it).

Changing the template later is free, instant and keeps every word. Open Page settings, pick another under Template, and press Change the template. Not sure? Plain & Modern is the default for a reason.

Your own templates. When the assistant designs your page, that design is kept as your own template, named after your page ("Rosie's veg boxes — original"), so trying other templates never loses it. In Page settings → My templates you can also type a design in Make it look like… ("a seaside postcard") and press Redesign (one change), then keep it with Save this template as mine → Save the template.

4. The editor

Your page is shown as it really looks, and you change it right there.

Change something by asking

Type what you want in the box beside your page and press Change it:

  • "Make the opening friendlier."
  • "Add our Saturday hours: 9 till 1."
  • "Put the prices above the photos."

Each ask counts as one change (a drawn picture counts as two). You get 3 to try, 10 more when you save your page, and 100 a year once it's live. Every change can be undone with Undo.

Change the words yourself

Press Edit, then click any part of the page and its words open in a small editor. It saves when you click away. You're writing in Markdown, a simple way to format text:

Type this To get
**bold** bold
*italic* italic
## A heading a heading
- an item a bulleted list
[our menu](https://…) a link

Press Help for the Markdown cheat sheet, with examples for headings, questions and answers, forms, tables, files and more. Changes you make by hand are free and unlimited.

What's on your page

What's on your page lists every part of your page, top to bottom. You can:

  • Switch a part off to keep it without showing it, and switch it on to bring it back.
  • Move a part by dragging it, or with its ↑ ↓ arrows. The top of the page always stays first.
  • Add an element for something new (see below). Each one is previewed in your page's template before you add it.

The parts you can add

Element What it's for
A heading A break between parts: one line, and a short intro if you like.
Words A panel of words: a heading, a few paragraphs, a link or two.
A list What you offer, with prices if you like.
Opening hours When you're open, one line a day.
Contact Your phone, email and address, with buttons to copy them.
Photos Your own photos, side by side.
Photos, one at a time Your own photos, one at a time.
A picture wall Rows of photos that drift slowly; visitors can pause them.
Before → after Two panels side by side: the old shop and the new one, or a room before and after decorating.
A table Prices, timetables, comparisons.
Questions and answers Questions that open their answer when clicked. Write ### Your question and the answer underneath.
A form A message, enquiry, booking, RSVP or mailing-list form (see section 6).
Certifications and memberships The logos of the bodies that approve or insure you, each with an optional link.
Links to other websites Cards linking to your other places online.
A file to download A PDF (a menu, a price list, a brochure) for visitors to download. Up to 10 MB, and every file is checked for viruses before it can go on your page.
A quotation A kind word someone said, and who said it.
A call to action One thing you'd like people to do, with a button ("Book a table").
A visit counter "1,234 visits", styled to match your template. Counted every night.
A logo Make a simple logo from your name or initials, an optional drawing and a shape. It follows your template's colours and type. Or upload your own (SVG or PNG) under Page settings → Logo.
Something else Anything else, in Markdown.

Pictures

Press Pictures (under the change box):

  • Upload your own once your page is saved. Before your first upload you'll tick a box to confirm you have the right to use your pictures.
  • Choose from our library of free-to-use photographs (good for setting a mood until your own are ready).
  • Set the focal point: in Edit mode, open a part's photo and click the important bit, and it stays in view when the picture is cropped.
  • Show on the page or keep a picture in your library without showing it.
  • Add a short description of each picture. It helps people who can't see it, and it helps search engines.

Page settings

Page settings holds the things that apply to the whole page: its title and description, its template and your own templates, its logo, whether the header stays fixed at the top, whether the template moves (motion on or off), whether search engines may list it, and Download your page: your whole page and its pictures as a zip file, which works in any browser and on any web host.

5. Saving and putting it live

  • Save my page asks for your email address and sends you a link and a six-digit sign-in code. There's no password. Your page is then on your account.
  • Choose your address (yourname.justhome.page) and press Reserve it; it's held for you for 7 days. Payment isn't open yet: for now, press Leave it with us and we'll email you the moment you can put your page live (or use an invitation code if you have one). When payment opens, Make it live takes you to payment, and your page is on the web straight away.
  • Your ID looks like USER-1A2B-3C4D. It's in every email we send you, and you can sign in with it too.
  • Keep a way back in. Keep the recovery codes we show you when you first sign in somewhere safe (you can make new ones on your account page), and add a backup email there. If you ever lose access to your email, either one gets you back in.

You can make more than one page: Your pages on your account page, then Make another page. Each page has its own address, template and yearly price. (For now, while we're opening, it's one page per account.)

6. Forms and messages

A form lets visitors contact you without you putting your email address on the page.

  1. Add an element → A form, then choose a starting point: Message, Enquiry, Booking request, RSVP or Join the list.
  2. Add, remove or reorder fields (up to 10). Every form asks for the visitor's email.
  3. Press Save the form.

How it stops spam: after sending, the visitor gets an email with a link and presses Send my form. Only then does the form reach you. Messages from robots and fake addresses never arrive.

You get each message by email (press Reply to answer the sender), and they're all kept for 90 days under Messages & responses, where you can filter them, download them as a spreadsheet (Download CSV), or block a sender.

For your security, a form can't ask for passwords, card numbers or ID numbers.

7. Share and get found

Share & get found

Once your page is live, Share & get found appears beside it in the editor, with:

  • your address, with a copy button;
  • a QR code to download, and a printable card with it, for your window, van or flyers;
  • a link and a "Visit our page" badge to paste into other websites and email signatures;
  • one-tap share links for WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, email and text;
  • a checklist, Where to paste it: your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, Facebook page, LinkedIn, WhatsApp Business, email signature, and printed menus, cards and vans (the QR code).

Search engines

Your page is ready for search engines from the moment it's live: a proper title and description, your business details in the form Google reads, a sitemap, and a fast page that works on phones. New pages usually take days to a few weeks to appear in search. The fastest way to be found is to put your address where people already look: your Google Business Profile first of all.

Your visitors

Once your page is live, the editor shows how many people visited it this week and this month (robots aren't counted), and which websites sent them. Nothing is tracked about any one visitor. Not yet: more detail, such as the Google searches you appeared in and a monthly summary by email, is on its way.

8. Your own domain and email

Email at your justhome.page address (free)

In Your address and email, switch on forwarding and choose up to five addresses (hello, bookings, orders, info, and one of your own, like hello@yourname.justhome.page). Mail sent to them is checked for spam and viruses and forwarded to your account email while your page is live. Replies go from your usual email.

Your own domain (+£10 a year)

Not yet open to everyone: in Your address and email it says Coming soon. Press Tell me when and we'll email you when it opens. When it does, you'll use a domain you already own, such as www.yourbusiness.co.uk:

  1. In Your address and email, under Your own domain, type it and press Connect.
  2. We show you one record to add where your domain's DNS is kept (usually the company you bought it from), with step-by-step instructions for that company. You don't move your domain, and usually there's nothing to change but this one record. Your existing email stays as it is.
  3. We check automatically and show Connected ✓, usually within half an hour of the record going in. The security certificate is set up and renewed for you.
  4. Choose whether your justhome.page address keeps working too, or sends visitors to your domain.

Once it's connected, you can also switch on email forwarding at your own domain (two more records, which we show you). If the domain already has email, we'll warn you and leave it alone unless you confirm.

We don't sell domains. If you don't have one yet, buy it from any domain company, then come back.

9. Your account, billing and help

  • Billing (on your account page) will show renewal dates and receipts, and let you change your card or cancel. Not yet: payments aren't open. When they are, they're handled by Paddle, who also handle VAT and sales tax.
  • Refunds (when payments open): any payment, for any reason, within 14 days.
  • Cancel any time (when payments open). Your page stays live until the end of the year you've paid for.
  • Locked out? If you can't get into your email, Recover your account on the sign-in page gets you back in with your ID plus a recovery code, your backup email, or (once you've paid) the receipt ID from a payment.
  • If we ever close, we'll tell every customer at least 90 days before. Your page is plain HTML: download it from Page settings and put it anywhere.
  • Privacy: your page has no cookies, no trackers and no scripts from anyone else, so your visitors never see a cookie banner.
  • Help: use Tell us what happened (at the foot of the screen once you've saved your page, and on your account page), or email hello@justhomepages.com. It reaches the person who runs Just Homepages.
